October 2014 Student Spotlight

We recently interviewed Grace about her experience with Homeschool Spanish Academy. Here’s what she had to say:

HSA: What was your level of Spanish like before learning with Homeschool Spanish Academy?
Grace: I didn’t really know much about Spanish until I started with Homeschool Spanish Academy. I knew the words “Hola” and “Gracias,” but I did not know anything else. My pronunciation was not very good. All I knew was that I was supposed to roll the r’s and I was not very confident because I was afraid that I’d have no idea what they were saying.

HSA: What do you like most about the program?
Grace: I love it! It would be boring if I just read out of a book, but talking to the teachers and doing the homework is really great! I like how I actually get to talk to my teacher through skype, being able to ask my teacher all of my questions in class, and I really enjoy being able to talk to her about Guatemala. Homeschool Spanish Academy fits really well into my schedule since I can choose when to do my classes and I always have enough time to finish my homework.

HSA: What other aspects about HSA do you enjoy?
Grace: I like how I can always e-mail if I have any problems or questions. I also like how easy it is to turn in homework and access my lessons.

HSA: How are your instructors?
Grace: Both of the instructors I have had have been really nice! I like how Mrs. Paredes always asks how the weather is and what I did that week. I also like how we spend time going over things about Spanish culture. She was my first teacher and I always enjoyed my classes. I also like how Mrs. Sanchez goes over my homework with me in class so I can see exactly why I got something wrong.

HSA: How do you hope to use Spanish in the future?
Grace: I’m sure I’ll be able to use it in my future career and if I ever visit Mexico, I’ll be able to talk to everybody there!! :-)

HSA: When you’re not learning how to speak Spanish, what other things do you like to do?
Grace: I love musical theater and swimming in the lake! :-)
